STUDENT SERVICES

 

Mr. Woitas is available to provide support and guidance for students in the following areas:

 Educational Counseling

  • Selection of courses
  • Program planning
  • Graduation requirements
  • Support for students with special needs
  • Evaluation of out-of-province documents and other documents, (i.e. private study)
  • Planning for post-secondary requirements
  • Peer tutoring

 Career Counseling

  • Establishing career goals
  • Calendars and website information for universities, colleges and technical schools
  • Exploration of related occupations
  • Arrangements for students to spend a day in classes at the U of A, NAIT or MacEwan or to attend "Orientation Sessions" and "Open Houses" at various post-secondary institutions.

 Financial Assistance

  • Scholarship information
  • Grant and loan information for college/university

 Personal Counseling

  • Confidential discussion of personal concerns or problems which may interfere with school performance and personal well-being
  • Issues may include self esteem, grief and loss, substance abuse, personal health and safety, family and peer relationships, sexuality, stress and conflict management

We are confident through the resources available in Student Services, students will be better informed and able to make appropriate decisions for themselves now and in the future. 

 STUDENT SERVICES STAFF

Mrs. McGrath, Secretary of Student Information, is available to assist students throughout the day. Duties include entering all new students into our system (demographics, timetables, etc), scheduling appointments with our Counselor/Career Practitioner/Off Campus Education Coordinator, and managing our Alberta Distance Learning Modules.

Mr. Woitas, our School Psychologist, is available to assess, diagnose and develop individual program plans for students' with behavioral and learning problems, register new students, assist students with program planning, course selections, and timetable changes. Mr. Woitas will also help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development. Mr. Woitas, is available to assist students with career exploration, career assessment testing, post-secondary inquiries, and available scholarships.

Mr. Woitas, is also our Off-Campus Coordinator and is available during the day to assist students with Work Experience, RAP, and Green Certificate. Counseling appointments may be made in person at the Student Services Office or by calling the school at 780-998-3751.
